Although our fee is a fixed amount, there are several other services that need to be paid for, as part of the whole cost of an operation:

  • Anaesthetist fee*: this is calculated on any risk factors you may have and is also billed on an hourly basis.
  • Hospital fee*: this consists of the use of the operating the operating theatre, equipment, medications, and hospital stay. The fee is variable, depending on how difficult your operation is (the longer it takes, the higher the theatre fee), and how long it takes for you to recover. It is extremely advantageous if you have private health insurance as this will reduce the cost significantly or may even cover all costs of your hospital stay.
  • Allied health fees*: dietician support and psychology have their own fee scales. They charge patients directly for their services.

*Please check with your health fund if these fees are covered/ are reimbursable

It is important to remember that problems can occur in any form of surgery.

Weight loss surgery is particularly difficult, due to the size of the patient, the lack of room inside the abdomen, and the poor state of the tissues.

As such it is impossible to guarantee a complication free procedure.

Should complications arise that may require readmission to hospital; there will be an extra cost which remains the responsibility of the patient.
